養不教，父之過；教不嚴，師之惰。
子不學，非所宜；幼不學，老何為？
玉不琢，不成器；人不學，不知義。
為人子，方少時；親師友，習禮儀。

Yǎng bú jiào, fǔ zhīguò; jiào bù yán, shī zhī duò.
Zi bù xué, fēi suǒ yí; yòu bù xué, lǎo hé wéi?
Yù bù zuó, bù chéng qì; rén bù xué, bù zhī yì.
Wéirén zǐ, fāng shào shí; qīn shīyǒu, xí lǐyí.
＜ English Translation＞
Raising children without educating them is the fault of the parents.
Teaching students without being strict to them is the teacher's neglect of duty. To study without diligence and concentration is the student's error.
If one does not learn when one is young, what will one be capable when one grows up? A boulder without carving and polishing can not become an exquisite jade ware; a man without learning can never truly acquire the proper ways of conducting himself in society. We, therefore, should stay close to our good teachers and helpful friends when we are young, to learn etiquette and manners, and to improve our knowledge.

父母教子女而不教育，是父母的过错。老师教道学生而不严格，是老师的失职。
我们不用心学习也是不对的。小时候不努力，长大了能有什么作为？
