＜ English Translation＞
At the elementary level, teachers should explain T everything in the clearest ways and show the young how to punctuate and paraphrase sentences. It is of utmost importance that learners lay a solid foundation from the very beginning. In ancient times, the beginning of one's education is to learn “Xiao Xue”, that is, to learn to write, pronounce and fully comprehend the meaning of different characters. Then one can proceed to the “Si Shu” (Four Books), which are Lun Yu (Analects of Confucius), Meng Zi (Mencius), Zhong Yong (Doctrine of Mean), and Da Xue (Great Learning). The same rule applies to our learning process today; we have to learn how to read and write before we can merge ourselves into different areas of knowledge.

教导初学的学童,一定要讲究方法，字句的意思要讲清楚，还要让学生明白如何断句。
读书求学，必须先打好基础。对于古人来说,要先学好「小学」，也就是学好文字，包括字音、字形、字义，然后就可以研读 《论语》《孟子》《中庸》《大学》这「四书」了。我们也要先掌握文字，才能学习更多的知识。
