今天來挑幾個常見的慣用語，讓大家熟悉一下。
(一) an average Joe (an ordinary person) 普通人
用average Joe 來形容一般的美國人，特指典型的美國男性，也可以說成an ordinary joe普通人。
例句1: I am an average Joe. 我是一位普通美國人。
例句2: He is just an average Joe. 他只是個普通人。
(二) around the clock 日以繼夜
這個用語around the clock 也可以說成round the clock，可以從時鐘的短針與長針聯想，時鐘的針一直動，沒有停，所以就是日以繼夜的意思。
例句1: We are working around the clock to finish the proposal. 我們日以繼夜的工作來完成提案。
例句2: The team is working around the clock to provide the latest information.  這個團隊日以繼夜的提供最新消息。
(三) bad mouth 說別人壞話; 嚴厲的批評
用bad mouth不好的話，嘴巴說出來的壞話，指的就是批評別人criticize(批評)別人的意思。
例句1: You shouldn’t bad mouth anyone. 你不應該說別人的壞話。
例句2: He bad mouthed his ex-wife. 他嚴厲的批評他的前妻。
(四) Been there, done that.  (去過也做過)有同樣的經驗; 不足為奇
例句1: Been there, done that. = I’ve been there done that. 我覺得沒甚麼新奇的啊 !  
例句2: He has been there, done that. 他有同樣的經驗。
(五) bite someone’s head off 大罵某人; 嚴厲斥責某人
這個慣用語是不是很逼真，看起來像是動物大口咬掉獵物的感覺，所以就是罵人罵到狗血淋頭的概念。
例句1: Don’t bite my head off, please. 請別對我破口大罵。
例句2: His boss bit his head off in the meeting. 會議中他的老闆把他大罵一頓。
(六) blow-by-blow 一五一十地; 詳盡的
這個慣用語的出處是很好玩的，因為用於Boxing (拳擊比賽)，播報員如何將對手一拳一拳(blow-by-blow) 描述給觀眾聽，需要很生動鉅細靡遺地這樣描述給觀眾聽，才會有臨場感，所以blow-by-blow 就變成詳盡的。
例句1: I need a blow-by-blow description of what happened. 我需要詳盡的發生經過。
例句2: The driver gave a blow-by-blow account of the accident. 駕駛對於意外做了十分詳盡的敘述。
