Summary
Dear Integr8 Health Patients and Friends,
It's no surprise that recent data indicates people in Maine are experiencing higher rates of depression, anxiety, alcohol and tobacco use, consumption of sweet food, and weight gain since the beginning of the pandemic. We're facing an incredible amount of stress, loss, and isolation, and it's essential to find new ways of thriving in our rapidly changing world.
I want to make you aware of a powerful and safe treatment offered at Integr8 Health for depression, anxiety, pain, and more. Over the past 3 years, my colleagues and I have treated over 250 patients with ketamine, and have been sincerely impressed by the versatility and effectiveness of this intervention.
Considering my long interest in natural medicines and emphasis in helping patients replace pharmaceutical drugs with natural treatments, it’s been a bit of a surprise to discover the holistic physical, mental, and spiritual healing potential unlocked by this pharmaceutical agent originally discovered in 1963 and approved by the FDA in 1970 for use as an anesthetic.
In the last two decades, ketamine has been increasingly researched and clinically applied as an off-label treatment for various chronic treatment-resistant mental health conditions, such as depression, alcoholism, substance dependencies, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, other psychiatric diagnoses, and for chronic pain. In 2019, the FDA approved a specific version of ketamine (esketamine nasal spray) for treatment-resistant depression, but this treatment is expensive and limited in availability.
At Integr8 Health, we work with compounding pharmacists to formulate ketamine into a variety of delivery methods to best suit the goals of treatment, and the medication is remarkably affordable, often less than $5 per week.
Interestingly, a single dose of ketamine can produce days, weeks, or even months of sustained improvement in symptoms. How is this possible? In addition to relieving symptoms, ketamine helps people make long-lasting changes in patterns of thought, behavior, and physiology. It's an intervention that can unlock one's inner healing potential.
Like any treatment, ketamine is not effective for everyone. Most of the clinical studies evaluating low-dose oral ketamine have found ~70% response rate. Those who do benefit experience rapid results – unlike traditional antidepressants, there's no need to wait weeks or months to see if the treatment is effective.
If you're interested in learning more or scheduling an appointment to find out if a ketamine trial is right for you, please call or email our office.
Sincerely,
Dustin Sulak, D.O.
