You could also try some free music learning courses and take that as your mission to learn how to play an instrument. You could even live from music? I would love to learn guitar and bass at some point, but I dont have the time or money to study the techniques and music theory for a while... Go for it and see what happens. And for music creation I find the time-honored music theory approaches to be fine also, like for Classical Music or any other style that is open to your creativity. We dont have to be slaves to rules...You have a bunch of great musics and you want to know how to organise them and get this... You could open up a folder and start to tag music like in the old time stamp files... Or you could use basic tag, like a song, album or genre, maybe with a label and year, or maybe with a timecode (mood?)... You could then continue tagging or group them into collections, for example you could group by album, genre, artist...When you are performing with other music players like a DAW, I find the basic tags are really great. A lot of music is full of basic tags that do the work for you. One of my favourite ways to organise music is to label the folders by the genre that it belongs to (e.g., Pop, Jazz, Classical etc), and then use tags like Genre, Key, and Region to tag the musical content in that folder. It works like a dream and allows me to see the differences between recordings and songs and easily find the right music or a specific version of music.Essentially you have a single music data file, maybe with subfolders and maybe individual tracks. Then you can use the exact same tool to fill in additional info tags to describe the data. These metadata tags can be used to describe a song in a more structured way. Good resources are to - http://www.music-software.info/en/guide_to_metadata.html - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_metadata For example you could use an Artist tag to find music from a given artist (e.g. you want to find a specific version of music by David Lee Roth), a Genre tag to get all music from the same genre etc.
