I have been involved in teaching Ayurveda for nearly five decades. I was actively engaged for the development and creation of Sharir, the very first and comprehensive textbook for Ayurveda, not only by Ayurvedic students but also by the academic world, which is keen to acquire knowledge of Ayurveda. Of course, the book is entertaining and technical at the same time. The layout and style have been designed in a way that is user-friendly.The concepts of Sharir have been conveyed by a highly intelligent and dynamic teacher who has taken up this task with great zeal. Students will find a comprehensive understanding of the methods of Sharir. This book contains many gems of which I have found seven significant ones. Each and every chapter has been a comprehensive study. The subject of Sharir was first introduced in the seven chaptered books in 500 BC. In Ayurveda, the word Sharir means mixing or intermixing of all the components of the manas and the vital soul. In other words, Sharir-Samskaras-Dushyas-Nidanas-Srotrayam has been developed as these are the main concepts of Sharir.
