the actual reverb itself consists of two plug-ins, m40 and t40 (idea would be to get rid of the t40 for this version). the first one takes care of the room itself: the amount of reflections and reflections, and the time it takes them to decay, by changing the early reflections slope. now it can change even the decay phase of the early reflections, like when you're not using any damping pedal. in other words, you can set the decay times to 0, like when you've used an analog overdrive pedal, to have more saturation.we actually use the m40 as a buss compressor/distorter. the low-cut filters are actually analog tape delay, not digital, so you can select how far apart your sound signals are. we processed the sound in fl studio using an ssl gml plug-in. we also re-encode it into the pro tools format so it can be used by other manufacturers plug-ins and apps. in fact, the m40 t40 is plug-able. you can use it as a compressor, harmonic exciter, tube screamer, whatever.it was our ambition that, within a few years, our plug-in will be the most used reverb in any professional studio. we've always been obsessed with using vintage gear as a path to better technology. for example, we've been able to create another plug-in inspired by the m40's integrated preamp. we've managed to preserve the warmth and tone of the tube and the sound of the original valve preamp.to hear a concrete example of the incredible range of possibilities, i turned to randy russell, chairman and ceo of d&d construction services, who has been designing audio enclosures for the audio industry for many years. russell has worked with many well-known acts like joe walsh of the eagles, don felder of the eagles and john cale of the byrds. he also worked with the memphis symphony and the great conductor leonard slatkin, who has been referred to as the father of modern recording, russell says.
