so i decided to try updating my game to the 1.1.640 patch, however when i tried it, the game told me that my simcity 4 game on steam needs to be updated to the 1.640 patch. this is as i had updated my game to this patch a few weeks ago, however i do not want to update the game because i do not want to lose my game progress and it is the only copy that i have. if you do not want to lose all your work, do not do this.1) download the simcity 4 deluxe v1.1.640 (patch) and install it. do not use the steam client. this will overwrite your previous steam – simcity 4 patch. once you start the game, you will be prompted to update your game. your original game will be deleted when you update.the problem is that simcity as a product is increasingly becoming a liability to the ea brand. how many people had to get out of simcity before the big news that the game was "only" single player? how many people were forced to give up their purchase because they couldn't connect to the servers? how many times have we heard about the simcity servers being shut down because someone has hacked them? how many friends have left the game for that reason? i'm sure those people are just a bunch of pirates. i'm sure we're all pirates here.i know that's not true. i know that these people are me. this is me. this is all of us. i love simcity. i love the game. i love the idea of being able to create my own city, share it with other players, and compete with them. i love the ability to build and trade with other players, a shared experience, and i love the idea that the game will always be there for me. i want to be able to play and build on the game as long as the servers are there. i want to be able to play with my friends. i want to be able to play with people i've never met before. i want to be able to play with everyone, and everyone to be able to play with me. i want to be able to be the mayor, the ceo, the gm, the gm. i want to be able to build the best damn city in the world. i want my game to have future.
