The version of software being sent by Earth is called WMT2.1.2.105l. NASA engineers were able to reconfigure the rover to load the update. An engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., is in charge of posting the information to the rover's site. The firmware for WMU210 series, version 2.1.2.105, is stored in the file wmt2.1.2.105l.BIN. The microcontroller will recognize the .BIN extension and will load the firmware at boot.The file wmt2.1.2.105l.BIN has a binary (non-text) format and can be loaded directly into a microcontroller's flash memory. This will not alter the microcontroller's programming. The flashing process is described below. Network configuration/status: The WMT2.1.2.105L firmware supports receiving network configuration/status messages via the HLR-A interface. The messages received can be displayed on a generic text-only page.
