assuming your compressor has built in overload protection, you should be able to run the motor from a 100amp 240v power source. i did that to verify my math and it did work. the supply voltage may vary a little. i would run a volt meter and verify the voltage on the compressor is exactly 240v. if it isnt, then your load is drawing more than it should and you have two problems. the first is you are allowing too much current through the motor windings. the second is you are providing 240v instead of 230v to the compressor. the reason the compressor works is because it can take 240v and deliver 100% of its full load current and the motor can take 100% of its full load current. the motor starts at high impedance and is drawing little current. as the motor spins, it loads down and starts pulling much more current.for the most part, you are going to want to use the same refrigerant system on the compressor and condenser. that is going to mean a gpm refrigerant. the compressor is going to be sensitive to the amount of refrigerant, but not to the pressure. you can overcharge the compressor without all that much effect.i would suggest that you check out the information from the manufacturers site and see if you can find out what the proper voltage and current is. the compressor has to be connected to a voltage source that is able to deliver that voltage and current.the compressor should have a "cold start" function. this is a special mode that the compressor will operate in when it starts and you have the compressor on. this mode will help it get the "cold start" and should take about a half hour. if you do not have a cold start function, you can find this in the manual. another option, is that you can blow the condenser dry and let the compressor start. this will help you get the compressor started more quickly.
