i just checked out the keygen church website and in the menu there is a section called keygen churchs cabrini green mix. i have a very soft spot for this sound, so i gave it a listen. it comes across as a very eclectic musical experience, with dubstep influences and some other styles too. i like that it makes a nod to keygen churchs roots in electronic music as a whole. i think that overall, the mix is a very strong effort that is full of so many different styles and sounds that it is a pleasure to listen to and i think that every keygen church fan should have a copy of this somewhere in their collection. its pretty great!i appreciate the spirit of keygen churchs work and this is the first time i have seen this album. so far, it is pretty good, though it doesnt seem like they have much of a marketing presence outside of their facebook page. i would love to see a proper album with real artwork and packaging. i would gladly buy that!what stands out to me is how in love with music keygen church is. this album is filled with dark, moody and beautiful keyboard and synth work. its downright haunting. i think the album is good, but i just cant help but think that with some more promotion it could be great. its just too good to be left without a proper statement.as i said, there are plenty of gems to be found in the record. im not going to be totally redundant here and repeat a bunch of them, but instead, i will attempt to point out some of the key highlights of the record: the violin: keygen church is a duo, but this track featuring g m a g e l y the violin makes me believe that this is more like a band of the highest order. all the instruments are at the forefront here, mixing with each other in a wonderful string arrangement. there is a beautiful line about the violin that makes me think, im not a violinist and i get this. maybe damore has a new perspective on the instrument and its capabilities that i have yet to figure out. the p a r r o a t i o n : in another display of maturity, damore paints a picture of a plague that has ravaged the world and which is spreading amongst humanity. in one of the most dense passages of the record, damore creates an ominous sounding tone that is a striking departure from the previous sound he produced. the way damore mixes the instruments and the way he creates that bleak sounding tone are both important elements in the work he is doing. the menace of the world he paints in this track is something that many listeners wont be able to resist. the d a t e r a n t : the lyrics are very dense, almost impenetrable in places, but what makes them so special is the way damore performs the track. the keyboards, guitars, and percussion are all at the forefront here and i really like the way damore manages to make a story about a plague that has devastated humanity whilst not losing sight of the humanity involved. the track just sucks you in and youre left wanting more.
