We were testing the game to make sure it worked for multiple operating systems before posting this (to make sure its not broken on other platforms), but this isnt yet the case. Most games are compatible with an xbox 360 controller and mouse and keyboard, which was the case for our test. It works better than Dead Space 2, which was more difficult to control with a controller, and it was even less playable with a mouse and keyboard, much less than that, so were fairly confident it will be a bit better for the PC version. It seems it also takes advantage of the physical buttons on the controller, such as to switch weapons, which we didnt test with a mouse and keyboard, but we should find out before this one is released.The length of a game is quite impressive - it’s probably about twice as long as Dead Space 2. The story and characters are much more interesting than in Dead Space 2, and you start to understand the reasoning behind the toned-down violence and how Ishimura’s experiments have progressed from the horrors of Sector 2, 10 years before, to an industrial scale, but you’re still being pushed around by enemies. Theres at least half a dozen ways to get through the beginning area, and every method has advantages and disadvantages. The later part of the game is more of the same, with the occasional interesting new type of enemy and some very bizarre weapons that are incredible fun to use. The best of the plot devices are the survival minigames, which are a very innovative use of first person shooter mechanics, really showing what this franchise is all about. Visceral have a cunning plan to prevent the player from becoming too familiar with the basic gameplay. It’s a very good game and recommended for seasoned fans of the series. If you liked Left 4 Dead or even the more recent Saints Row the Third, you’ll love this game, with a few differences in gameplay.
