the movie is perhaps the best example of the title chauranga that has been used since hindi cinema has not changed with time, as it must be able to keep up with the expectations of audiences of the changing times. an honest narrative about how a social evil could become a powerful force in the life of a boy, how well he deals with it and how it could be transformed into a positive change for him and the rest of society. as a film critic, bikas ranjan mishra is certainly an interesting figure. yes, we all know of the hundreds of reviews and articles he has penned and written. not only does he excel in the realm of film criticism but he is also an established filmmaker. having worked on a few successful films like 'marooned' and 'tushar' and having produced a few films including 'chauranga', mishra has been at the forefront of both criticism and film production for quite some time. this film of his, 'chauranga', is an interesting blend of both. he has gained valuable experience by working on a film with a larger canvas and a more ambitious scope. on the other hand, there are some flaws in the film that mishra has himself to blame for. apart from this, it is a film where the dialogue contains no hindi words and the language is barely understandable. but the director is clear and firm that chauranga is not a film for the hindi movie audience. it is for the marathi audience. and to encourage and reflect the psychological state of the cast who are living on the lines of hate and violence. as well as giving them the space to voice out their plight.
