i'm in the middle of buying a new tractor. i have called jd several times and only received a recording. i have a john deere ltr 180 with k46 transmission and when i try to get the trans to shift it won't go into first gear. tried to shift it manually, and it goes into reverse, and after i'm in reverse it won't go into gear. i'm not sure if i need a new transmission or a new transaxle. i'm having trouble finding a john deere ltr 180 with a k46 transaxle. i live in texas. thanks for your helphello, i do not know what year your tractor is, but if you look at the operating manual in the “maintenance” section, they tell you where to find the drain plug, the flange, the spring, etc. it is important to note that on the drain plug, there is a cover plate that needs to be taken off to access the drain plug. when you remove the drain plug, it will allow you to remove the drain plug housing and plug cover. once that is done, it will be a simple process of removing the cap to change the oil. if you do not see the drain plug on your tractor, then it is most likely not there. i would recommend that you check with the manufacturer to see if the drain plug is oem and if so, they may have included instructions on how to service the drain plug. thanks for posting this! i was able to identify my tractor's serial number, and just looking through a few parts manuals, i was able to figure out how to remove the transmission from the tractor. no pictures of this are available. thank you!hi there, i found your website at the recommendation of a friend. my tractor is a 2007 john deere 2070 jd k46t. i drained the oil, but when i refilled it, i only got about half of what it should fill to, and there was alot of metallic particles. i'm wondering if this is normal. it has 460 hours on it.
