but that doesnt mean you should miss the show, especially if youre a fan of its original creator. this is jonny nero, who created the netflix show with playwright adam rapp, and he was around to be involved in the show from day one. nero and rapp worked together on the opening episode of the series as well as many of the larger arcs of the shows five seasons, with nero writing the script and rapp supplying the dialogue. its no mystery why so many critics were fans of this show, its clever, introspective, and finds plenty of great characters and performances to be engrossed by. with nero and rapp leaving the show after the first season, it will be interesting to see how this show will continue.while the showrunners are no longer around, the show is still chock full of some great talent. the offbeat and dark series, which takes place in a world where people have been turned into brutal killers by a substance called soylent, is executive produced by kevin bacon, and among the executive producers are steven soderbergh, michael b. jordan, and lauren shuler donner. its also been praised by critics like the a.v. club, who called it one of the best new series to hit the streaming service. the show premiered in may and quickly gathered buzz in its first two episodes, with the rest of the season turning in some legitimately great episodes as well. this is an exciting new series to be sure.why would i watch for one, its a period piece set in the future, and that seems like the perfect opportunity to explore the anxieties of a future in which there are no more wars and inequality is rapidly growing. its also filled with intriguing characters, from the seedy soren to the brutal soylent to the duplicitous government man who wants him dead, and when you throw in the brilliant cast, youve got a show thats tough to resist. the idea of exploring a paranoid future is certainly a familiar one, and the show is a good look at the societal issues that would play out in that world. the show also stars the one and only tiffany haddish, so thats a plus.
