There is a set of requirements that are defined in the ASME PTC 4.1. These requirements vary depending on the specific division to which the PTC is addressed. It is not permissible to make assumptions about the content of this requirement as this represents a minimum requirement. The ASME PTC 4.1 is very detailed and in fact, there are currently two versions in use. Version 2.0, labeled "Responsive" is well-organized and well-written. Version 1.0 is much rougher edged. There is a huge difference in the approach taken in 1.0 and 2.0. Sometimes, the 1.0 version produces better results than the 2.0, but more often it is the other way around. In other words, 1.0 was a bit naive, whereas 2.0 was much more sophisticated.A search of the ASME Website will yield a lot of information on the QPTCs. Basically, the ASME Website will contain the following information: The complete Code, v4.1 or v4.2  A pdf copy of the complete Code Suggestions for how to modify the Code Guidance on the tabular structure of the Code First, I would perform a search of the ASME website to confirm that the QPTCs are the most recent version. If not, I would try to purchase a pdf copy of the version in question. If no pdf version is available, it would be necessary to contact the publisher to obtain a copy. Without knowledge of the edition it is not possible to know which version is right for you. The way this works is that ASME will have one version of a PTC. This will have reference information, the sorted, boilerplate tables, and the design codes. Then, the procedure is that the boilerplate or template is modified by each company in their own unique way.
