Jan Stastny is back at the helm of the Falcons once again, after spending only half the season with Chomutov, the first half the only full season when Stastny was head coach of Chomutov for 11 years from 2008 to 2017. Grigori started his coaching career in 2012 with Stastny as his assistant and stayed with the team until 2017. The former NHL-er by the nickname of Spas started his coaching career in the Czech Extraliga (Pardubice) with Chomutov in 2002-03 and the Falcons for two seasons.Czech team to play in World Juniors (the Czech team lost in the finals in 2017 against Canada, and lost the final in 2018 against Slovakia) and returned to the Grand-Prix ( after a seven-year hiatus). They will be the host nation, starting with pre-tournament training in Karlovy Vary in the end of January 2019. The Czechs lost in the finals in 2019 against Canada with an overtime in OT (5-4) and 2018 final loss against Slovakia (3-2). The Czech's roster for the World Juniors is a mix of younger and more experienced players from the Czech Extraliga.Stastny coached Chomutov that season after he was fired from Slavia Praha and had coached them in 2004-05 and 2004-05-01 (the playoffs) before he was fired. The Falcons finished 11th in the standings and won the seventh game of the best-of-seven playoff series with vratislava after losing three of the first four games and also won its only game in the second-best-of-seven play-out game series over Motor Zraza. Chomutov also played in the first round of the 2003-04 Czech Extraliga season, after Slavia Praha withdrew from the tournament, where the Falcons defeated Dukla Jihlava.
