Shohei Ohtani Becomes Two-Way All-Star for the Third Time
Shohei Ohtani has been picked for the American League pitching staff. This means he has become a two-way All-Star for the third consecutive year. He is the only two-way All-Star in major league history.
“He’s very respectful. He doesn’t do a whole bunch of talking,” the American League manager Dusty Baker said. He added that Ohtani is focused on playing and handles all the publicity with humility.
In 2021, at the Denver game, Ohtani pitched a perfect first inning. He grounded out against players Max Scherzer and Corbin Burnes.
At the Dodger Stadium in 2022, he did not pitch. He singled on Clayton Kershaw’s first pitch of the game and walked against Joe Musgrove.
Eight members of the Atlanta Braves team were chosen for the American League game in Seattle, taking place on July 11th. This was a proud moment for the Braves coach, Ron Washington.
"Washington said this is probably the most emotional day of his career,” said Braves baseman Ozzie Albies.
One of the reserves for the American League team, Brent Rooker, has played with Ohtani before. He said he believes Shohei is “the best baseball player of all-time.”
