辦公室應該全面禁煙

小常識
現在在美國，無論是在辦公室、公共場合，或是自己家裡，都已經不能再任意抽菸了。如果想抽菸，一定要向主人或是身旁的人問聲May I~?，得到許可才行。因為在美國，「抽菸會妨礙他人」的觀念顯然已經根深蒂固了。而在台灣，儘管會妨礙到他人，但只要得到許可，就可以吸菸。
大補帖
ban是「禁止」的意思，和prohibit，forbid一樣。它可當名詞，亦可當動詞，用法如下:
There is an international ban on nuclear testing.
(國際上禁止核子試驗。)
Ann, I banned you from meeting that man, didn't I?
(安，我不是禁止你和那個男人見面嗎?)
Achieving that means~的mean是「意味著~」的意思， 換句話說，「Ameans B」的句型意思是「A意味著B」:
Being fired now means I'll lose my house.
(我現在要是被開除了，我的房子就沒了。)
Not being able to paint meant death to him.
(對他而言，不能作畫就和死了沒什麼兩樣。)
That means you can't help me.
(也就是說，你沒辦法幫我了。)
