Keeping Mum: Love Hijacked by the Algorithm
Last week, I was invited to a special screening salon for the new Taiwanese series, Keeping Mum, held at Otter Space in Taipei. The series, co-directed by renowned director Nelson Yeh and rising director Liao Kun-Yen, is already generating buzz for its gripping suspense. However, attendees were also captivated by Director Yeh's witty hosting skills and charm, leading to a unanimous conclusion: "Nelson Yeh is a brilliant host disguised as a director!" His seamless moderation and incisive commentary made the salon both professional and engaging, prompting calls for him to launch a personal podcast to continue sharing his unique perspectives on society and cinema.
Keeping Mum dives headfirst into one of the most pressing contemporary parenting issues: the impact of influencer culture on family life. The story follows single mother Chen Yi-An (Cheryl Yang) and her twin daughters. The charming older twin, Cathy (Lin Si-Ting), becomes a famous parent-child influencer, while the shy, introverted younger twin, Lily (Zhan Zi-Xuan), remains the "invisible daughter" off-camera.
