Characters
Adam Trask - gentle, idealistic, whose kindness and moral innocence shape his life, yet his naivety and favoritism toward one son bring quiet tragedy to his family.
Cathy Ames (Kate) - strikingly beautiful, deeply manipulative and instinctively exploits others, she reveals a chilling absence of empathy or moral restraint.
Lee - quiet and perceptive, his calm presence and sharp intellect bring unexpected depth to those around him.
Caleb Trask - quiet, perceptive boy who feels things deeply and questions what others take for granted.
Aaron Trask - open, idealistic boy who believes in simple goodness and sees the world in clear lines.
Abra Bacon - perceptive, emotionally intelligent young girl whose quick understanding of others subtly shift the dynamics between the Trask twins.
