i heard a lot of good things about logic so i gave it a try. it took me a while to figure out all the various menus and i am still getting used to the interface. but as far as daw goes, logic is really easy to use. the plugins are easy to use as well. and even though the package is bigger than most free daws, it still has the feel of being a very powerful daw. i actually like it so far, but as i said, i am still getting used to it.samplitude is a very capable daw. i think its great for those who want to get into music production. the interface is simple and easy to navigate, and the sound quality is great. the only thing that is annoying is that you have to pay for the plugins. but even then, the plugins are all good quality and they do add a lot to the price. so what i would say is, if you want a good free daw but dont want to pay for it, go for samplitude. its the only one that is free and offers all the functionality that you would expect from a $500 daw.i know that this sounds like a bad thing, but even though i have used other daws in the past, i have always found it easier to use logic. its just easier to navigate, and its simple to get to the functions you need. now it doesnt take long for me to find what im looking for in logic, but when you compare it to other free daws, it just takes longer to find the functions. but when i do find what i need, its a breeze to use. if you are a beginner, i think that logic is the best free daw you could use. but for a seasoned musician who wants a daw with a few more bells and whistles, i think it doesnt compare to some of the more expensive free daws. i would say that if you want a daw that will make you more productive and help you make better music, go for logic.
