in the lost symbol, brown's most recent novel, brown returns to the work of robert langdon. langdon is hired by an organisation known as the order of the gilead to investigate the death of a woman named katherine. langdon has no idea who the woman is, but the organisation says her death is connected to the book of revelation. langdon is shocked to discover that the organisation is actually the knights templar, and that they believe the woman was a member of their order. in this novel, brown returns to his character of robert langdon, a harvard professor who has lost his faith. langdon attends a conference on the afterlife at a hotel called the v.i.p. area. during this conference, langdon is reunited with a former student, sophie neveu, who tells langdon that the organisation she works for, known as the illuminati, are interested in the apocalypse and the survival of the human species. i have to say something good about the movie, although it was too tedious for my taste (ok, i could get through lord of the rings being 2 1/2 hours, but this was hell!). the shots of the louvre were nice, mckellens got an incredible speaking voice (thank god, the hairs in control, too) and the aerial views of the castle were good. since i was brought up with if you cant think of anything nice to say, dont say anything at al, ill end there. cause once you get me started with how boring it was, i wont stop. cheers!!! im going to see x-men and mi3 this week just to satisfy my unsatisfying movie experience this weekend. selfish me.brown says his favorite thing in life is to be "by himself" -- alone in the woods, deep in the middle of nowhere with no one around but god. he lives in new england with his yellow lab, winston. dan brown is a bestselling author of such books as the international bestseller the da vinci code and angels & demons, which, along with the lost symbol, has spawned a major motion picture. brown teaches a course on storytelling at the university of southern california.
